McIntyre Road Ford

On 16 August 2017,  Council became aware of significant damage to the concrete ford crossing the Dawesley Creek on McIntyre Rd.  We suspect that this damage was a result of increased water flows in the creek due to recent high rainfalls. On inspection, Council determined to close the road immediately to protect public safety until a more detailed engineering inspection could be undertaken.

This week, Council engineers have inspected the ford and determined that it’s structural integrity has indeed been compromised and will need to remain closed to traffic until repairs have been undertaken. We anticipate that this could be a number of weeks or even months depending on what is required.

Council will now proceed with urgency to investigate the best solution to repair the structure with the objective of opening this section of road to traffic as soon as possible.   In the interim, we kindly request that you do not drive across the structure as we believe it is not safe to do so and may damage the structure further resulting in longer delays.

We apologise for the inconvenience this damage has caused and thank you for your patience whilst these repairs are being undertaken.  If you have any further questions or would like to talk to someone about this matter, please contact our A/Team Leader Projects, Matthew Dawkins on 8391 7281 or email
